Environment Bank is providing Biodiversity Units to clients of Barclays seeking to fulfil their biodiversity net gain (BNG) conditions. We have a range of options available to ensure that our solutions are tailored to your specific project needs and timescales.

To comply with the Environment Act 2021, developers in England must demonstrate 10% BNG to secure planning permission. Often a cost-effective option and ecologically beneficial solution is to deliver BNG off-site by purchasing Biodiversity Units from BNG Habitat Banks like ours.

Across the country, we’ve already generated more than 5,000 Biodiversity Units in more than 30 unique habitat types – providing local, cost-effective solutions for developers.

Because these BNG Habitat Banks are live and fully funded, our Biodiversity Units have already helped to unlock development projects for a wide range of clients, from SME housing developers to large infrastructure companies.

Our ecology, planning, and legal teams provide comprehensive support throughout the planning process. Once Biodiversity Units have been purchased, all responsibility for BNG delivery sits with us for the full mandatory period of 30 years.
