Habitat Bank overview
Corby Habitat Bank is a 155-acre nature recovery site we launched in April 2026 that’s been carefully designed to support the objectives of the North Northamptonshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS).
This Habitat Bank is home to species-rich grassland meadows bound by hedgerows, trees, scrub, and woodland – providing habitat corridors for a range of wildlife species living in the nearby ancient woodlands. It also includes ponds and ditches to help species of invertebrates to thrive.
BNG delivery
At every Habitat Bank, we always look at the land to determine what can be achieved from the very start. Our biodiversity experts assess the soil, wildlife, vegetation, geology, hydrology, management history, and connectivity across the local landscape.
We take a baseline for each Habitat Bank using the statutory biodiversity metric. We carefully select the best possible habitats for us to establish so we can deliver and demonstrate measurable biodiversity gains over time.

Our vision
Corby Habitat Bank neighbours Wadenhoe Little Wood, an ancient, replanted woodland of high biodiversity importance. It also sits within reach of Wadenhoe Marsh and Achurch Meadow SSSI, Banhaw, Spring and Blackthorn’s Woods SSSI and Titchmarch Local Nature Reserve (LNR).
Woodland and scrub creation is a key part of the North Northamptonshire LNRS. Along with complimentary habitats such as scrub and hedgerow, this new woodland will support a variety of wildlife species including woodcock, nightingale, brown hare, skylark, and white-letter hairstreak butterfly.
We hope to vastly improve the soil quality and increase all-important flood mitigation through our meadow and grassland creation here, and we also aim to also support the wildlife living in the stream running alongside the Habitat Bank.
As a public right of way that runs from the southeast of the Habitat Bank and heads north, we’re excited that the local community and travelling walkers will be able to share in the nature that flourishes here.
