Habitat Bank overview
Our Marston Meysey Habitat Bank is a sixty-acre site of nature recovery which launched in autumn 2025 which features a series of species-rich floodplain grazing meadows in the upper reaches of the River Thames corridor. This Habitat Bank gave us a fantastic opportunity to support a number of existing designated wildlife sites in the area and build ecological connectivity across the landscape.
BNG delivery
At every Habitat Bank, we always look at the land to determine what can be achieved from the very start. Our biodiversity experts assess the soil, wildlife, vegetation, geology, hydrology, management history, and connectivity across the local landscape.
We take a baseline for each Habitat Bank using the statutory biodiversity metric. We carefully select the best possible habitats for us to establish so we can deliver and demonstrate measurable biodiversity gains over time.

Our vision
The location of Marston Meysey Habitat Bank was chosen because of its proximity to a large number of notable nature sites including the Cotswold Water Park Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the North Meadow & Clattinger Farm Special Area of Conservation (SAC), and Cricklade North Meadow – a National Nature Reserve and SSSI.
The River Thames runs along the northern boundary of Marston Meysey Habitat Bank and the floodplain grassland we’ve created will extend the pre-existing habitats found at North Meadow and help to provide further habitat for a wide variety of species associated with the River Thames corridor.
What our ecologists have created will help to provide breeding and foraging habitat for several key species associated with the section of the Cotswold Water Park SSSI which neighbours our Habitat Bank, such as curlew, marsh harrier, and yellow wagtail.
We’re delighted that people from the local village communities, as well as hiking tourists, will be able to enjoy seeing everything flourish over the coming years as they walk along the Thames Path, a public footpath running right through Marston Meysey Habitat Bank.
